Scott and I had a great, adventurous and exhausting time in Boston and NYC. We started the trip on a crazy note with our flight being cancelled. I received an email on my Blackberry at about 9:30 Sunday night stating that something had been changed on our itinerary and to contact Expedia. After a couple of hours on hold I finally learned that due to bad weather our flight (departing the next morning at 6am) had been cancelled. Finally, after several phone calls between Expedia, American Airlines, the hotel, and back to Expedia everything seemed to be in order for a change in our trip to move from Monday-Saturday to Tuesday-Sunday.
Well....we got to Boston with ease only to learn that our hotel room had been given away as they had marked us as a no-show. Apparently, while I was assured that everything was in order on Sunday night and Monday morning when I spoke with the hotel and Expedia no changes had been made to our hotel reservations.....ARGH.....INSERT RANT ABOUT EXPEDIA HERE!!!!
Luckily, the people at our original hotel (aka hotel #1/hotel room #1) took pity and took us in for the night, but couldn't accommodate us for Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. Somehow, though they still had our reservation for Saturday night. So...we put our bags in our room and went out for dinner at The Bull and Finch Pub, the inspiration for Cheers (the TV show). The next morning we had to repack, check out and store our luggage with the bellman at hotel #1 as we had a 6am train to catch bound for NYC. We made it to the train and had an amazing time in NYC getting to eat lunch and have Frozen Hot Chocolates at Serendipity III, enjoy seeing the St. Patrick's Day Parade (SO COOL), and getting to see Billy Elliot at the Imperial Theater (amazing). We caught our return train back to Boston to get back in at midnight. We got back to our hotel, picked up our luggage, and cabbed to hotel #2 that had been arranged by Expedia. Upon arriving at hotel #2 we learned that it had been flooded and there was no room in the inn so they shipped us at 1am to hotel #3/hotel room #2. We had a nice room, with our very own conference table and dry erase board, and were treated to a delicious breakfast buffet and a fruit tray in our room. The next morning we were transferred back to hotel #2/hotel room #3 where we stayed both Thursday and Friday nights.
On Thursday we toured a bit of the city checking out Boston College, Fenway Park, Newbury Street, Harvard Square and Harvard University. We capped the day off with a delicious dinner at Legal Seafoods.
Friday, we toured the JFK Presidential Library which was a very neat experience. We then headed over to Fanueil Hall and Quincy Market Place to see the sights, shops, and street performers. That night we had a great, fun dinner at American Joe's which I highly recommend should you be traveling to Boston soon.
Saturday, we returned to hotel #1/hotel room #4 then grabbed some Dunkin Donuts and toured Boston Common, the Public Gardens, and made our way down the Freedom Trail. It was so awe inspiring standing in these places where great men fought for our freedom from British Rule. At times I truly felt my feet may actually fall off from all of the walking on this trip, but we had a great time. I think Scott was most impressed by the Old North Church as it was beautiful and full of history. That evening we met my great friend and former college roommate Christi and her husband Tim for a most delicious dinner in the Little Italy area of Boston....SOOO good! We concluded dinner with some delicious cannoli's. It was so fun to get to catch up with them and we can't wait till they find their way back to Texas!
Sunday morning brought an early wake-up call to catch our flight at 6am. We were glad to be home and in our own bed, but certainly loved this trip and wouldn't' hesitate to go back and visit again sometime. We were so blessed with getting to see a lot of the city, NYC, good friends, great food, safe travels, and amazing weather.

Great blog! I loved seeing where all you went, but, where's the "feet picture"? Guess Scott's one foot will have to do!!! Glad you had so much fun.
That was my giant foot by the way!
