After living in Edmond/OKC since August in an apartment we were ready to put down some permanent roots. Some good friends of ours told us of a home on their street that was for sale. We thought we'd check it out, but initially felt like there were far too many updates needed (read: grandmother-esque wallpaper in kitchen and 3 bathrooms; bright brass fixtures, etc.). So initially we decided to let it go. We loved everything else about the house, its location, the elementary school its zoned for, the neighborhood, the cul-de-sac that it is situated on, the fact that it is one floor, etc. After a brief discussion in which my mom kindly reminded me that a house was update-able, we quickly put in an offer. A couple of months later 13909 Briarwyck was ours! My parents came and helped a ton with cleaning, removing of awful curtains and window treatments, and tons of painting. We cannot begin to thank them enough. Scott's parents also came a few weeks ago and helped with some electrical work, including taking down the hideous light fixture in the kitchen and replacing it with an awesome new fixture. We are so lucky to have such wonderful, loving, and giving parents.
Here are the "befores"...."afters" soon to come...once I've decorated!

We are still very much in the moving in and decorating process. Leo's room was the only one decorated for ages. I have waited 14 months to really decorate my baby boy's room and now it is sweet-happy-pirate-land! Other than his room I have been painfully slow at decorating. I am far too Type-A and have to know where everything is going to go and how it is going to look before I can begin decorating...much to Scott's chagrin, dismay, and agitation. Thankfully, there is NO MORE WALLPAPER!!!! Scott, did, however, get to plant his 40th birthday present - two Gala Apple Trees. My sweet husband is really starting to develop a green-thumb.
We love our home and feel blessed to be living here, with our lovely backyard, fabulous neighbors, awesome park/pool, walking trails, and duck pond. Leo is loving his new swing on the back porch and daily walks. He quickly learned how to say "outside"! After so much change in our lives (2007 A moves to Austin and meets S; 03/2008 begin dating; 05/2009 engaged; 10/2009 married; 12/11/2010 Leo arrives; 05/2011 A gets Ph.D; 08/2011 move to OKC...) we are thrilled to finally be HOME!
